Clinical Study of Local Application of Insulin on Diabetic Foot Ulcer Healing

Introduction: Foot complications are a major cause of hospitalization in patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM), which consumes high number hospital days because multiple surgical procedures and prolonged length stay. Patients DM have up to 25% lifetime risk developing foot ulcer, precedes amputation 85% cases. A mainstay Diabetic Ulcer (DFU) therapy is debridement all necrotic, callus, fibrous tissue, primary goal obtain wound closure. Materials Methods: Cases diabetic ulcer presenting our OPD/IPD signing the informed consent form before study as well fulfilling inclusion criteria mentioned along detailed clinical examination patient laboratory workup was an open labelled randomised control trial. Results: The carried out 64 selected randomly sorted into two groups, i.e. test subjects. No difference observed groups respect depth after (p-0.85). However, significantly less insulin group at week 1, 2 3 compared group. percentage decrease more than by end 3rd week. Primary closure 62.5% 84.4% while STSG required 37.5% 15.6% cases respectively.
